The Anniston Static Detonation Chamber (SDC) Facility added to the ongoing success of the site mission when the team successfully completed Integrated Operations Demonstrations (IODs) in preparation for beginning the M67 Rocket Motor destruction campaign.  The IOD scope consisted of M67 Rocket Motor unpackaging and loading into a feed tray utilizing equipment initially developed and tested at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.  The Rocket Motor Push-Out Table equipment was transferred to the Anniston SDC where it was analyzed by the Anniston SDC team and subsequently modified to fit the exact needs of the facility and campaign.  The equipment modification task involved a joint effort of multiple disciplines, including personnel from the Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Safety, Environmental, and Management teams.  The core values and teamwork involved in the project highlighted the spirit and legacy of the demilitarization community in encouraging all employees to strive for success through mission-driven innovation and collaboration.

On March 8, 2022, representatives from the BGCAPP Field Office, Blue Grass Army Depot (BGAD), Anniston Field Office (AFO), and Amentum Corporate Office gathered to observe and evaluate the Anniston SDC team perform the IOD evolution.  The team performed the evolution expertly, receiving a “Readiness Achieved” score from the evaluation team with no negative findings, and multiple positive comments given on the professionalism, proficiency, and procedural compliance demonstrated. The Anniston SDC team received final authorization and has commenced the M67 Rocket Motor destruction campaign. Operations are proceeding and going well which the team attributes to their readiness training and preparations.
